2. Skins, capes and who owns them
Every texture on MCCatalog comes from a public source: Mojang’s profile API or OptiFine’s cape server. We show skins exactly as the game distributes them to other players, and we claim no ownership of any of them.
- Default skins, Mojang capes and the Minecraft name and assets belong to Mojang Studios and Microsoft and are used under Mojang's usage guidelines.
- Custom skins belong to the artists who made them or the players who commissioned them.
- OptiFine capes are served by OptiFine to its users; we display the ones players have chosen to wear.
Downloading a skin from MCCatalog gives you no rights in it beyond what its owner and Mojang’s EULA allow. Using a skin in your own Minecraft profile is generally fine; selling it, claiming it as your own or using it outside the game may not be.
The text, layout, code and renderer of MCCatalog are ours. The renders themselves are derivative images of textures we do not own, and we make no ownership claim on them either.
